Akzo Nobel reported to police

Värmland's county administrative board has reported Akzo Nobel to the police after a quantity of lye leaked from a boat into an enclosed bay in Hammarö.

According to Akzo Nobel, it was a faulty valve that caused the corrosive liquid to leak. The company claims that its investigations did not show any lasting environmental effects.

But the county administrative board has charged the company with failing to take the necessary security precautions, Nya Wermlands-Tidningen reports.
