The man made his own way to Örebro University Hospital on Tuesday after coming into contact with the poisonous snake, Nerikes Allehanda reports. Three out of ten people whose bites remain untreated die as a result of their injuries.
“It’s like a viper bite, only much much worse. It threatens the respiratory system, blood circulation and kidneys,” head physician Lars Berggren told Nerikes Allehanda.
The victim was bitten by a so-called western diamondback rattlesnake. It is not yet known whether he was the owner of the animal.
