The suspect either fell or jumped from a balcony on the fourth floor of the building in which the victim’s was found. The man broke several bones in the fall and is being treated for his injuries at a hospital in Linköping.
“He is saddened and upset and is finding the whole thing very disturbing. He awoke to hear that a friend had died and that he was accused of killing her,” the man’s lawyer, Per-Arne Magnusson, told Aftonbladet.
Local media reported on Tuesday that the victim was the sister of former international footballer Håkan Mild, who has taken a leave of absence from his duties as sports director at IFK Gothenburg.
The district court is scheduled to decide on Wednesday afternoon whether or not to issue a detention order.
