Police search for missing 'murder victim'
Police in Malmö have said they are mystified after a man phoned to confess to a murder, but they were unable to find his alleged victim.
The man, 25, called the police on Wednesday and said he had killed another man. Police followed up on the call, and found blood stains in the man's apartment and a suspected weapon. But they have so far not found the victim's body.
The purported murderer was arrested following his confession, and has been questioned by police. But questioning has so far proven fruitless - the man has only told them the victim's first name.
"But that name is so common that we haven't been able to draw any conclusions. There are a lot of question marks," said Lars-Håkan Lindholm of Malmö Police.
The area around the man's apartment has been searched by police with dogs, and officers have spoken to neighbours. Questioning of the supposed killer is continuing, they said. He is previously known to police, but has never before been linked to a serious offence.
