Residents in the area around Segevångstorget saw flames emerge from the store shortly after a loud bang was heard at 1.45am.
The store is located on the ground floor of a residential building. All occupants were evacuated as fire fighters arrived to put out the blaze.
“We suspect that the fire was intentional. But we don’t yet know how it happened,” police spokesman Lars Rosberg told Sydsvenskan.
Residents were allowed to return to their homes at around 3am, when the fire was brought under control. The store was seriously damaged in the blaze.
One person was treated for smoke-related injuries.
Police said that the owner of the store had not received any previous threats.
