One person has died after a fire broke out in an old wooden house in Borlänge in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Fire fighters spent the night trying to bring the blaze under control in the central Swedish town.

A total of ten people were evacuated from the house, nine of whom escaped without injuries.

Emergency services and police were that the fire might spread since the entire area consists of old wooden buildings.

But by 5am the fire brigade had succeeded in putting out the blaze.
