A bouncer from top Stockholm nightspot Café Opera has been remanded in custody by Stockholm District Court. The 33-year-old security guard was arrested on Sunday night after a fracas outside the nightclub which left three men needing hospital treatment.

According to witnesses, the bouncer was seen punching and kicking a number of customers. One man was knocked unconscious and was treated for serious head injuries.

Police tried in vain to get hold of footage of the incident but the nightclub claimed that it security cameras were temporarily out of order.

Explaining its decision to detain the suspect, the court said it agreed with the prosecutor's assessment that there was a risk the bouncer would try to get rid of the evidence if released.

The suspect is to be formally charged by November 15th at the latest.
