Trading at the OMX Nordic Exchange reached record heights in October.

On October 16th the share trading value amounted to 104.2 billion kronor ($16 billion), smashing the previous record of 88.7 billion kronor set on May 3rd this year.

According to a statement from OMX, the total for the month of October - 1,197 billion kronor - also represented a new record, coming in slightly above the record set in August.

"The fact that we have been able to handle all the peaks in the trading during this year shows that we have invested in the right infrastructure for our market and we foresee this trend to continue given new trading behaviors and the increased international interest for the listed companies," said Jukka Ruuska, President of Nordic Marketplaces at OMX, in a statement.

OMX owns and operates stock exchanges in Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Iceland, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius.
