Plastic surgeon changes story over rape
A 53-year-old plastic surgeon convicted of rape in September has changed his story ahead of the start of his appeal in Malmö on Tuesday.
The surgeon, Carl Troilius, now says his 23-year-old patient consented to sex, according to TT.
Troilius was convicted of raping the patient while she was under anesthetic during the treatment of her bikini line. He was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and ordered to pay 180,000 kronor in damages.
Two lay judges felt the rape was so brutal they wanted a longer sentence for the surgeon, who has denied all accusations.
Between courts, Troilius changed lawyers and his story. According to his new attorney, Helene Ek-Sederholm, he never forced himself on the woman. She consented to the sex.
In district court, Troilius said that he had masturbated after injecting himself with testosterone and that his sperm had been found on the woman after he had washed his hands.
Malmö prosecutor Bo Albrektsson is not impressed with Troilius's new explanation of events.
In addition to the new trial, an investigation has been launched into complaints against the surgeon from other women. Troilius is also being investigated for contempt of court for allegedly trying to damage the woman's reputation.
