Thore Skogman grew up in Hallstahammar, 130 kilometres west of Stockholm. He made his debut recording in 1955 before coming third in Sweden's national song contest Melodifestivalen in 1963.
In the 1960s he wrote Fröken Fräken (Miss Freckle), which went on to become a huge hit for showband Sven-Ingvars.
Skogman also presented many of his own television and radio programmes.
His popularity also extended to Norway.
