A slump in Saab Automobile’s German, Belgian, Canadian, UK and US markets contributed to sales falling 7 percent compared to last year.
In France, Spain and Italy, sales of Saabs were up on last year.
In Sweden, the market picked up after the summer with the launch of the new 9-3 series. With annual figures down just three percent on last year, Sweden overtook the UK as Saab’s largest market outside the US.
Despite the drop in worldwide sales, CEO Jan Åke Jonsson remained optimistic, claiming that the company never expected to reach the record heights of 2006.
“Our order books look good coming into 2008. We are hoping for at least the same level as 2007,” he told TT.
