ICA meat cheat scandal resurfaces

Two more ICA supermarkets have been found to have sold minced meat that had passed its sell-by date just weeks after the chain held a crisis meeting with store managers over its recent food hygiene scandal.

The stores in question are both located in Uppsala and are to be reported to the police by the local council, Upsala Nya Tidning reports.

In the days after Christmas, the council's food hygiene inspector noted that ICA Solen in Storvreta, north of the city, had ground down old meat and repackaged it as fresh minced meat. A week earlier inspectors observed the same practice at ICA Väst in the city's Flogsta district.
