A 57-year-old man is believed to have been murdered in his apartment in Södertälje on Tuesday evening.

Police have detained a 50-year-old man in connection with the killing in the town just south of Stockholm.

Police have so far revealed very few details about their investigation into the death in the town’s Grusåsen district.

“He was found in his apartment by a family member and there were injuries on his body that lead us to believe that he was murdered,” said police spokesman Bosse Abrahamsson.

Police immediately turned their attentions to a 50-year-old man who was arrested at 2.30am on Wednesday.

“He is being detained on suspicion of murder,” said Abrahamsson, who refused to comment further on the case.
