A 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital for treatment following a fight between two rival gangs of teenage girls at a subway station in Stockholm on Tuesday evening.

The incident took place at Kärrtorp subway station in the southern suburbs of the city.

"The gangs had arranged to meet and have it out after some sort of dispute. The injured girl got a black eye and complained of facial pains. She was taken to hospital for treatment," said police spokesman Anders Decker.

A total of around twenty girls between the ages of 16 and 18 were involved in the fight. Two 18-year-old girls, one of whom was arrested, are suspected of assaulting the 15-year-old.
