The pensioner was discovered by neighbours at around 10.30 on Friday morning.

Police were reluctant on Friday afternoon to speak about any clues they may have found on the farm.

According to the Skånska Dagbladet newspaper, the man had been a farmer and continued to live on his farm despite being retired.

He was alone at the time of the attack. The nearest neighbours are a few hundred metres away.

Police spent much of Friday afternoon knocking on doors in the area.

One neighbour explained that he heard the loud noise of a door banging shut at the victim's home at 11.30pm on Thursday.
