Gothenburg man admits to killing ex-girlfriend

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in Gothenburg on Friday night. The man called the police himself to report the murder.

The man called police early on Saturday morning and turned himself in. Police sent a patrol to the man's residence in Kortedala in Gothenburg at 5.30am and could confirm that the woman was in fact dead.

It is thought that the man and the murdered woman had previously been a couple.

It is expected that the man will be remanded into custody later on Saturday.

Police are unwilling to divulge further information as to the cause of the woman's death. Details of the identities of the man and woman are also being withheld for the time being. The man is familiar to police, news agency TT reports.
