A man who stopped off at a pub located on Gothenburg's trendy Avenyn with a pistol, ammunition, and a balaclava in a bag claimed he was on his way to turn the weapon into police.

When the man got up to leave the bar, he forgot the bag but when he asked to have it back, the pub guards refused to oblige the drunken and unruly patron.

Instead the guards called police and now the 37-year-old man has been charged on suspicion of weapons crimes.

The man told police that he was on the way to the police station to hand in the weapon but that the trip there “had been long”, writes the newspaper Metro.

The man was also charged for drug offences.
