Employee stole female prisoners’ money
Swedish police have detained a 50-year-old employee on suspicion of stealing thousands of kronor. The money was supposed to be spent on glasses and dental treatment for women inmates at Hinseberg prison.
The employee may be charged with embezzlement and faces up to a two-year prison sentence, writes Aftonbladet.
Some 30,000 kronor were not properly accounted for in 2008. However, the woman had worked at the prison for thirty years and no one knows how long the money has been missing. She admitted, however, that she had only started taking money in 2007.
