The 20-year-old arrested for the murder in Linköping of a 26-year-old mother of a small child confessed to the killing on Friday evening, according to several media sources.

He had denied the charges during the pre-trial hearing held on Friday afternoon but is said to have admitted to the crime in a later hearing.

Late Monday night, a woman was found seriously injured on a cycle path in the Lambohov neighbourhood. She was taken to hospital but doctors were unable to save her life.

The young man and an 18-year-old woman were arrested on the same night. The woman, who was suspected of harbouring a criminal, was later released.
