Swedish defender Rasmus Bengtsson has ended speculation that he might be on his way to Lazio in Rome by instead completing a move to Berlin.

The Swedish international has signed for Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin from Trelleborg, the German club announced on Thursday.

Bengtsson, 23, has signed a three-year deal worth an estimated 700,000 euros.

Hertha coach Lucien Favre had been looking for a central defender following the departure of captain Josip Simunic to Hoffenheim.
