Flatpack furniture giant Ikea has won its legal naming battle with a Swedish website selling second-hand Ikea goods at knockdown prices.

The ruling was handed down by the Internet Infrastructure Foundation (Stiftelsen för internetinfrastruktur), the body responsible for registering domain names ending in ‘.se'.

The foundation ruled that iloveikea.se could easily be mistaken for a site maintained by the home furnishing brand and ordered it to change the name.

The owners of the site, which launched domestically in April, have plans to expand outside Sweden's borders, but not until they have moved to a new address. To avoid any future confusion, the company is set to register the domain name billyandfriends.se, a nod to Ikea's ever popular Billy bookshelves.
