A 27-year-old man was found dead in his apartment in Söderhamn in eastern Sweden on Sunday afternoon.

“We know that this person has been murdered,” said lead police investigator Sune Nordh to the Aftonbladet newspaper.

The man's body was discovered by an acquaintance and police suspect the man likely died from stab wounds.

“He was alive last night [Saturday]. We don't know when the crime took place, but it was sometime during the night,” Nordh told the TT news agency.

Police are looking for someone who was acquainted with the victim.

“We'll see if we make any progress on this overnight so that we get ourselves a suspect,” said Nordh.

He added that the police are still working to establish a motive in the suspected murder.

Nordh refused to say whether or not the murder weapon had been found.
