Unbeknown to each other, all five men had online contact with the woman who they had met on the internet, according to new agency TT.

Following a number of email exchanges she had agreed to meet them in person in Sweden.

Each of the men had sent 13,000 kronor to pay for her ticket.

As the men gathered expectantly at the arrivals gate at Arlanda airport on Friday, it soon became apparent they were the victims of a fraudulent scheme.

After the plane landed, the woman never showed up and the men realised en masse they had been tricked into paying for tickets that were never bought.

Two of the men have now filed a police report against the woman.

It seems the Swedish women have gone on vacation and the men have resorted to the Thailand women. Ride on guys.

How many citizens are living in Stockholm? Can each of them send me 1kronor? This is my Bankaccount nr:.......... Transfer money excluded.
14:12 October 31, 2009 by Bumblebeetuna
I bet that happens all the time to men from all western countries.
15:11 October 31, 2009 by askin
Why send money? One could send a ticket which is not cashable. And one can decide on the travelling date for such tickets. Airlines can supply all the info for such tickets.

Reporting to the police will not bring any result, as there is a minimum of sum, in international crime, for Interpol to follow. The woman has probably used a false photo, a false address. There are a lot of liars in the world...And internet is full of them.
15:25 October 31, 2009 by Greg in Canada
The could have booked the ticket online using a credit card rather than sending cash. Are these guys just plain stupid or what?
15:34 October 31, 2009 by wxman
This is an age old problem. Whenever men decide to listen to their little head instead of their big head, this sort of thing is frequently the result. As they say, "A fool and his money..."

The five wise men from Sweden.......for the 2 that resorted to police, I wish them luck.......Fools!
16:13 October 31, 2009 by krrodman
I will die knowing that no matter what dumb-ass things I do during my lifetime, there are 5 people on this planet who are stupider than I am.

More money than sense.

If they want a woman, they should,

turn of there computer

Clean themselves up,

Go out the door to a resturant, förenging or pub,

Approach a single woman,

Talk to her, get to know her,

Ask her out on a date,

In plain language, grow up and act like men, not colonisers of other countries looking for compliant and obediant wives, because you are to pathetic to ask a woman out on a date who is on equal terms with you.
16:48 October 31, 2009 by Atlas
Nemesis, i second that...
17:38 October 31, 2009 by Texrusso
Yeah, you could ask her to send you a copy of her passport. If you are too embarrased to show her you don't trust her. Tell her you don't do cash, and can buy her the ticket from Sweden and she can pick it up in Thailand.
18:48 October 31, 2009 by izbz
Ai Yo!!!!!! Farang stupid, easy money....no money, no honey Thailand woman say. Kop Kon Ka!!!!!! Why report polisssssss???? Looking, looking no find Bye! bye!
18:55 October 31, 2009 by voiceofreason

You are all so gullible, why on earth do you suppose that it's a lady that pulled this off.

I can bet a $100 that it is a guy in his 20s.
19:12 October 31, 2009 by sherkovic
seems like thais know the weakness of swedish men!! however its a general trend in the world that women are trusted much more than men...
19:37 October 31, 2009 by izbz
Not only Swedish men are dumb, I bet can happen to Brits, American or any other nationality.

Anyway they are just like the farmer looking for wife, or single mama looking for a man in Swedish Tv program. With 13,000kr I will fly to Thailand instead to meet the girl, even if it is a fraud, you have girls left, right and centre. And also will have at least a good holiday!!!!!Vellly stuuupid eh !!!!! David Copperfield has not even attempt this vanishing act. Sawadikap!!!!

What thinking you? Shopping via internet ah!!!!!!! Next time better still, send credit card.

I'm just picturing five losers waiting "expectantly" at the arrivals gate - read "salivating, hopping from foot to foot, blood pumping to certain bodily parts at the thought of a Nice Evening To Follow"..........I wonder how they actually twigged...........I mean, who snapped first? How did the others make the connection that they'd all been had (as it were)?

It's hard enough to get five Swedish strangers to talk to each other without the circumstances being, shall we say, a tad embarrassing and potentially salacious ;)

The phrase "there's one born every minute" just received a 500% boost....

The real sawadikap, is if they were to find out if she was katoi! Don't want to go there!

To add insult to injury...there is some 35 year old Nigerian man having a sumptuous roast chicken dinner and a 12 pack of Carlsberg before he goes dancing and shows off his brand new (knock off) Tommy Hilfiger duds at the local discos in Lagos! - Of course he had to change a fist full of Kronors first...

Come on! This is not 1997 and the new thing called internet!

How come these 5 Swedish guys really trust in this woman. My friend used to do that too but he sent her ticket. So then she showed up at the airport with completely different look (uglier)from her pictures she showned him through msn and myspace and guess what....she's not Thai girl but she is Philipina. Now we all know how to make good money in easy bad way.....just find pictures of good looking Thai girl and sign up on Facebook or myspace and talk with stupid guys for awhile after you get money just leave a blame for Thai girls

Haha and they have the nerve to file a police report on top the sobs ... maybe they can charge the expense to their home insurance or something ? haha

Once, when I was 27, manager of a small travel agency in Piccaddilly in London, I met after the work, a young Swedish girl in a pub. I asked her out to go somewhere that evening. She said "OK" but she said she must go home, where she worked as-aupair and do something and will come right back to the pub, but she didn't have money for the subway ticket and asked me 10 shillings. The amount being reasonable I gave her 10 shillings. After fifteen minutes, I saw her at another table with an Indian boy. I told the Indian boy what this girl was after which stunned him and angered the girl.

Later going to Hampstead Heath in the tube, I saw this girl again and started questioning her why she lied to me, if she lied also to the others and to how many and how much money she made that day. Embarassed by my loud questioning, she asked me if I wanted my 10 shillings back. I replied that she could keep it, probably being hungry, she would need it, but I added that if I see her again doing this kind of thing, I'll call the police and that I worked in the vicinity there.

My advice to the five Swedish men, try to make a point out of this, contact the Thai newspapers and TV. Maybe the Thai police can help you after this.
15:57 November 1, 2009 by Thompsuleme
To the dude with the reference to a Nigerian, watch your mouth (or in this case your mind). You dont go about being judgemental and prejudiced,These men were downright absoulutely stupid to the core and i bet that they are not young too,

as they say.... A fool at 40 is a fool 4eva...

they suck big time whatever the circumstance...
18:23 November 1, 2009 by izbz
Thai Newspapers and TV? askin, they won't even bother especially if it bring a bad name to their country. SENSOR!!!!! Thai Polis? Velly solly, no money, no talk too busy counting their bribe takings than deal with this little matter.no time.

Askin, next time if you want to help someone (10 miserable shillings), don't expect anything

the only reward is how you feel deep in your heart knowing that you give to help someone in need (whether is a fraud or the truth it is irrelevant) Why even have the thought of calling the polis for your 10 shilling

Mai pein lai, about your 10 silling, only few solly for men in SWEEDEN waiting waiting thai lady , thai lady no cum. Sweeden men must making cum them slves. Thai lady busy ....using hand count money, Sweeden men use hand to cum
20:53 November 1, 2009 by insect

I am just wondering. Do they still use the shilling in London? Cos as far as I know their current currency is:

1 penny, 2 pence, 5 pence, 10 pence, 20 pence, 50 pence, 1 pound, 2 pounds?

So which of these represent the shilling you are talking about?
21:25 November 1, 2009 by izbz
Solly, reread your comment, Askin, now understand you are not trying to help girl with your 10 shilling, you are just wanting to buy bed and breakfast. Next time don't be a miser, 10 shilling can only buy you a postcard of a Swedish girl. Call the cop they will tell you that.

Good luck with your shopping. Try to buy a bar of soap with 10 shilling instead.

If 5 men reported it I wonder how many were too embarrased to report it. .
22:51 November 2, 2009 by Greg in Canada
I'm sure many men from many other western countries have been dubed by these Thailand cuties. That's what they can get by blindly chasing a fantasy and not being realistic. These girls are professional con artists who sucker western men for their living.
