A 62-year-old Swede has been found dead in her apartment in the tourist resort of Hurghada in Egypt, according to the Expressen newspaper.

An acquaintance of the woman discovered the body. Ayman Abdullah at the local police station told the newspaper that murder is suspected.

Police technicians have, among other things, found a cloth soaked in chloroform tied around the woman's head, which could indicate that she was drugged prior to the killing.

The woman was a pensioner and has been living in Egypt for the past few years. The Swedish embassy in Cairo is following the case closely, Expressen writes.
