Unions postpone Easter retail strike

Swedish retailers will not be hit with a strike over Easter after unions agreed to delay their strike notice by a week to April 8th.

“We have agreed to mediator requests to delay the strike notice by a week,” said Lars-Anders Häggstöm, chairperson of the retail sector union Handels to news agency TT.

Häggström confirmed that the union’s “primary goal” with the strike notice was to push the collective bargaining pay negotiations forward.

“We are now in constructive negotiations… Mediators now deem negotiations to be so complicated that more time is required – we have therefore approved the delay of the strike notice,” Häggström said.
