Hanson claimed the honours after beating Spain's Alejandro Canizares in a play-off despite sustaining a penalty for a double hit after chipping at the 12th hole.

He was two behind with four to play, but responded well to birdie the 15th and 17th holes to finish level with Canizares who bogeyed the first extra hole.

Hanson and Canizares had both shot 66 to finish on six under par after four rounds, four clear of South Africa's James Kingston.

Hansson adds the Mallorca Open title to his SAS Masters success in 2008 and the Open de España en Andalucía in 2005.

He has featured in the top 50 of the Official World Gold Rankings and has been place din the to twenty of the European Tour Order of Merit in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
