19-year-old shot dead in Stockholm

A 19-year-old man has died after a shooting incident in the Stockholm suburb of Alby on Friday night, newspaper Expressen reports.

The man was shot twice in the back shortly after midnight by a masked man wielding a pistol or a revolver. The victim died in an ambulance from injuries sustained in the attack.

“We're classifying this as murder,” Mikael Gustavsson at Stockholm Police told the newspaper.

There have been no arrests in connection with the shooting but several people have been taken in for questioning. Police were told the masked assailant ran away from the scene immediately after the attack.

Friends of the victim who witnessed the killing said he was shot at very close range.

The victim was shot outdoors near a school in Alby, a suburb in south west Stockholm. He was not previously known to the police.
