Sweden Democrat calls for opponents to be 'shot'

Local Sweden Democrat candidate Marie-Louise Enderleit has called for the execution of the party's opponents by firing squad.

"Line the immigrants here on the film up against the wall and put a bullet between the eyes, then put them in a bag, stick a stamp on them and send them back to where they come from," the Sweden Democrat candidate for Trelleborg in southern Sweden wrote on her Facebook page, according to the local Trelleborgs Allehanda daily.

Enderleit, who is on the party's list in Trelleborg municipality in southern Sweden, used her Facebook page on Monday to comment on a film from a Sweden Democrat meeting. The party's public meetings are often attended by counter-demonstrators and this one was no exception, with some new Swedes among the crowd.

When the newspaper called Marie-Louise Enderleit, who is employed by the county as an assistant nurse, to ask whether her comments might be construed as hate speech, she replied:

"It is very possible that could be, but it is agitation against us as well. We have freedom of speech don't we, well for the time being at least," adding, "I can't take it when they carry on like that, we are treated like parasites."

The Sweden Democrat's local party leader in Trelleborg, Per Klarberg, told the newspaper that Enderleit now regretted her comments and that she has removed the post from her Facebook page.

Sweden Democrat press secretary Erik Almqvist, according to the Expressen daily, has described the comments as "totally reprehensible and totally unacceptable" and said that it was the party's policy to contact representatives in cases such as these and he "presumed that would be the case now as well".

Marie-Louise Enderleit is number 19 on the Sweden Democrat list for the municipal elections in Trelleborg and will thus not claim a seat as a councillor.

The Local has made attempts to contact Marie-Louise Enderleit, Per Klarberg and Erik Almqvist on Wednesday, but our calls have not been returned.
