Woman’s finger found at children’s playground

Children playing at the Busfabriken indoor playground in Norrköping in eastern Sweden on Friday afternoon were left shocked after they found a severed finger.

The eight-year-olds had gathered for a Star Wars themed party at the popular play centre when their discovery added a touch of grim reality to the proceedings, according to a report in the Norrköpings Tidningar (NT) daily.

Parents in attendance at first thought that the children had let their imaginations run away with them. But when a mother took a closer look at the offending digit, she was indeed able to conclude that the resemblance to a human finger was striking.

“I was completely shocked and the children became very angry and upset. They though it was gruesome and disgusting,” she told the newspaper.

Staff at Busfabriken informed the party that a 58-year-old woman had injured herself at the play area that morning while playing with her grandchildren. According to NT the woman had hurt her knee and her finger which ambulance staff had wrapped in a jumper.

Parents at the party directed criticism at Busfabriken staff for how they managed the incident, claiming that the finger was simply placed in a plastic bag and taken away, with no attempt made to clean the area.

Busfabriken’s CEO Tony Andreasson told NT that the company placed saving the finger as its first priority and dismissed the whole episode as an unfortunate accident.

A spokesperson for Busfabriken told The Local on Monday that that neither the firm nor Tony Andreasson wishes to make any further comment on the matter.
