The man, reported to be a plumber from the Stockholm area, was found guilty by Nacka district court of attempting to buy sexual services from a child after having arranged a date with the teenager via a contact website.

After arranging to meet the girl for sex, the man then deposited 500 kronor ($73) in her bank account in advance of their date.

When the girl did not show up, the man obtained her home telephone number, called her father and demanded a refund.

The father then reported the 57-year-old to the police and charges were subsequently filed.

Story continues below…

The man denied the charges, claiming that he believed that the girl was much older than 13.

The guy groomed a 13 year old for sex.

He should be locked up until he dies.

locked up and with his balls cut off and pinned on the wall for decoration for memory as to why he's in jail in the first place!!

"The man denied the charges, claiming that he believed that the girl was much older than 13. "

Because when stood up for a "date", the logical next step is to contact the father of your "25 year old date." What a dingle!

There is no doubt that the man is a sick s.o.b. but what is the respobsibility of the girl's parents, do they guide her to use the internet respobsibly, are they at all intested in what she does with her computer? If not she will turn out to be a greedy whore.

Wow, you try and buy sex from a 13 year old girl and all you get is a fine? Geez...that's sad.

This man should be put away for life. He's a pedo and he tried to buy sex from a child. This guy is a not only a monster, he's a cheap idiot since he paid for sex with the child but she stood him up, so he called the father for a refund. Sick sick sick sick!

and that is why now you see people want to sell anything for money...

@Vic Taulic

I think what he meant by "groomed for sex", child grooming.

"Child grooming refers to actions deliberately undertaken with the aim of befriending and establishing an emotional connection with a child, in order to lower the child's inhibitions in preparation for sexual activity with the child, or exploitation (such as child labour - see trafficking of children). Child grooming may be used to lure minors into illicit businesses such as child prostitution or the production of child pornography" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_grooming

laws in sweden for rape or prostitution are flimsy. Now if you drive while drunk, watch out!!!

If this man was in america he would be locked up and then processed for trial and usually serve a couple of years in jail and then have to be registered as a sex offender for life.

he will attempt again and succeed with another 13 yr old.

since 15 is age of consent which is sick in sweden, much older than 13 would actually be correct in the sick swedish mentality.

when discussing roman polanski witha swedish friend they didnt think it was that bad cause the girl was 13!!!!!!! I said he raped and sodomized her, they said oh 13 isnt that young.

Good Luck socialists!

Where is the outrage of how this man was able to deposit into her bank account? Who set that up? The 13 yr old? Her parents? He may have solicited her, but who made that possible and where is the outrage for that? I agree he is sick but something else is going on here...

Come on people, I thought Sweden was the last bastion of legal integrity in a world gone mad, or does the monster in this story adhere to a religion that we dare not mention or mock ?

yep chop something off for sure, we definitely don't want plumbers like that breeding up anywhere or any-time soon!
09:48 December 22, 2010 by krattan
Oh, 13 isn't that young. After all she was able to set up the bastard and get away with it. Clever little fella.
10:19 December 23, 2010 by HowSwedeitis
Ok ok ok ok. Another classic example of The Local readers not comprehending the entire story and rushing to judgment. *Sigh* and how did I know I'd see an Assange relate here too! If you read closely, you will see that the man argues he did not know she was 13. The article clearly states that he "…arranged a date with the teenager via a contact website." This can easily mean 18 or 19. Now, should this fool have thought that an 18 or 19 year old would lust after a 57 year old plumber? Hardly. I have a strong suspicion that the 13 year old in question lied about her age and swindled the horny old fool. Also, the story does not clarify the conversation the man had with the Father. It is very possible that he suspected the father to be a boyfriend or pimp. The Father, oblivious to his Daughter's doings, reported the man to the police. All of these are possible.

ignorance is no excuse under the law.

Seriously do any of us believe that this guy thought he was pursuing a legal option? However to appease the devils advocates I shall break this down into two separate scenarios

A) he knew the girl was underage and is lying to cover his ....

B) He is an idiot for not gaining some type of proof of legal age before arranging said meeting

Either way the fault of stupid lies with him (as does the fault of pedo IMO).

Also 73 bucks.... C'mon .... if it sounds too good to be true it probably is and I would dare say that unless the going cost of tail is that much lower in Sweden then a price tag of 73 bucks either denotes something you really don't want or something that is too good to be true (read scam here)

I am studying Swedish law on Sexual Crimes. Does anyone know where can I find an example case (especially on Prostitution)?

And is this case is governed by Chapter 6, Section 8 of Swedish Penal Code?
