"It is the first time, during the eight years that they have been together, that they make an official visit to the municipality," said Magnus Jonsson at the municipality.

As soon as the couple accepted the invite from the rural Hälsingland community where Daniel took his first steps, locals have been busy arranging for the official return of their most famous son.

The royal couple will arrive in Ockelbo, around two hours drive from their home in Solna's Hagaparken, on May 19th - the anniversary of their Stockholm wedding - for a three day visit.

County governor Barbro Holmberg will host the royal couple at Gävle Castle, over 50 kilometres away to the south, for the duration of their stay.

"I think that had to do with security and practical matters. It is the custom that the country governor play host for official visits of the royal family," said Magnus Jonsson.

Story continues below…

Jonsson added that the small community hopes to be able to show off its highlights to the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel.

"We hope to be able to present new and some old favourites for them," he said.

Finally! a decent story, something besides Qaddafi and Assange. It's good to read a story like this for a change.

@ 13:10 if it wasn't for Assange and Qaddafi what would you possibly do with your day?

Since when is Ockelbo in Northern Sweden. It barely makes it into the middle third of the country along a North/South line.

How does a gym owner become a Prince? Shouldn't he have been given a Dukedom or a made a Count. But then again, Prince Philip is the same I guess. Royal Consort.

@ stenhuggaren

Are you talking to me??

I guess I'd have a life!!

Hey, I'm bored while my wife is at work. And no, I'm not a bum living off the system, I'm retired and doing very well, thank you. Gotta go and check out the latest on Assange. I think there's three or more stories on here about him. It's hard to keep up.

He has been given a dukedom (although not in his own right, but as a pendant to his wife).

Hey Local... I am a bit confused (or are you?) As I recall, the wedding was JUNE 19, not May 19! Perhaps I was watching a delayed broadcast while sitting up in Ockelbo watching the big screen, but I doubt it.

To quote quite a few readers on other occasions... please get your facts right!

Gee, I wonder how much it will cost the taxpayers this time, as with every time I see these 2 blood-suckers, it's always a high cost to the people of Sweden!

Another waste of money, and air : )
