Muslim group takes over Swedish church

“We have been crowding together in a cellar now for twenty years, and as there are more members every month, it was time to buy larger premises,“ said Skender Zekic of the Swedish-Romani Association, which works together with the Bosnian association and al Houda, to the local Eskilstunakuriren daily.

The church in Flen in eastern Sweden, had been on the market since November last year when the al Houda Muslim Centre approached the real estate agency with the intent to buy the church.

The decision to sell had come after two congregations joined together and one of the premises therefore became surplus to requirements.

However, selling the church to a Muslim organisation was not a decision that the congregation took lightly, according to Christina Blomqvist.

“There were very many discussions back and forward and some anguish among a few of our members who felt that it was wrong due to the persecution of Christians in some Muslim countries,” chairperson Christina Blomqvist told The Local.

But in the end the organisation couldn’t see any hindrance for the sale to go through.

After serious soul-searching the congregation had decided there was no reason to punish the Muslims in Sweden for the persecution of Christians in other countries.

The Muslims that are in Sweden, have good reasons to be here, they argued, and in the end came to the decision came down to a question of a display of goodwill.

Story continues below…

“We decided we wanted to show our Christian love towards them,“ Blomqvist said.

The Muslim organisation will now seek to raise the 4 million kronor ($641,444) required in order to finalise the sale. The organisation is hoping to be able to do so within a year’s time and issued a call for donations.

Blomqvist is a colossal idiot.

A church has good acoustics. It could have been made into a good rock or goth nightclub, providing entertainment for all instead of continuing to encourage the judeo-christian-islamic-satanist mental illness's.

haha.. they made the deal without trying to know if the mclass had any money! Wow, show me such a love buffoon.

"Trojan Horse" does not begin to describe what's going on. You can place the blame squarely on the verminous social dems and its leftist ilk. It is they have turned Sweden into a multicultural sewer. It is know-nothings like Blomquist who should be dragged into court for treason. How sad it is to see Sweden going to the dogs.
14:08 May 10, 2011 by truthworthy
So the local is now reporting the news from politisktinkorrekt? Property are being purchased from each other everyday and does not make the news. The church did not make a favor for the Muslims, they just engaged in business.

It is funny how people are trying to turn this a news worth. If the church had not sold to the Muslims, they will still find another premises to buy.

Oh no, watch out for the Muslims. I am getting so tired of the pandemic of racism in Sweden. Get over it Sweden, and to quote Frank from Tele2 "who speaks Swedish anyway"

Islam is not a race. It is a religion. A fairly intolerant one in my opinion.

I believe in the Golden Rule. If you wish tolerance you should be tolerant of others.

Then, maybe we could all learn to get along.

If it were not for the senseless colonization of sweden by muslims this would not disturb me. Muslims by and large are religious, swedish christians by and large are not, so, it is natural that churches are turned into mosqes.

However, the massive scale of muslim immigration from the world most failed states is a lethal threat to our very existance. Thus, even reasonable activity such as this i will oppose.
18:13 May 10, 2011 by Iraniboy

Welcome to Sweden :)

It is okay to be intolerant of an intolerant religion.
19:09 May 10, 2011 by Frank Arbach
This is something we must come to expect as followers of Islam are more 'belief-driven', I feel, than followers of the western religions (as has been indicated by other posters)

It could be that declining church congregation numbers, among the western religions, will see more mosques, in place of what were once churches
19:26 May 10, 2011 by swedejane
Ok, so one cult sells property to another cult. Big deal.
20:10 May 10, 2011 by Larry Thrash
Since churches are burning in Egypt perhaps Muslims will offer Christians in Egypt a mosque for worship. What are the chances of this? What about diversity in Muslim countries?
20:53 May 10, 2011 by jbat
Larry Thrash...

you should visit muslim country yourself to see how many churches are there in muslim countries all over the world and how we muslims let those christians people live in peace with their choosen religion (afghans? this country cannot be counted since it is ruled by uneducated people with arms and millitary training provided by uncle Sam's money)

I really don´t understand how these many extreme haters here thinking... only few case happen.. then they refer it to the entire muslims... so what about so many many many other christian criminals around this world? why not you blame christian for what those moron doing? this not to include LEGAL Killing by those great army machines and bombs.... why dont ask question ... do Christians support violence? why not Christian religion educated these criminals to be good person? Why exists criminals with christian as their religion?
21:03 May 10, 2011 by jbat
Swede the faker Smith.. "Islam is not a race. It is a religion." so you are not racist hah???? chitt bit fat LIAR! so only hate Islam not muslim right? Why you are so coward to admit you are racist people? pretend to be good like your Busshher leader?

Here i present GREAT LINK for you christian people to know more about violence in Christian religion! THIS IS A FACT!

21:05 May 10, 2011 by Infart

Because a lot of these crimes committed by Muslims are done so in the name of their religion. Also, Muslims are VASTLY overrepresented in crime statistics. Just check out the news (even today's news). Muslims creating one problem after another. The bottom line is, if they weren't here, Sweden would be FAR better off. I can't think of one positive contribution that they have made to Sweden.
21:09 May 10, 2011 by jimmy1988
They do everything they want. Is that religion of peace? Do we want that kind of people in Sweden? Is Sweden still being hyprocrit towards immigration?

Is Swedish people being stupid towards muslims?
21:10 May 10, 2011 by jbat
This is what the true killing and torture in the name of religion Infart!!!

It is done by legitimate christians authority!

p/s : wanna be dig out the internet and find o0ut how many crazy christians doing crazy things in the name of religion?
21:18 May 10, 2011 by jbat
Is Swedish dont have any problem with muslims.. only you the big fat liar immigrant have!

And so Bussh kill for oil show christian the religion of peace? or good religion? or non violence religion? and you also mourning and putting poison in the society whenever you like... is christian is good religion? why not this religion teach people like to not to become racist and hate other religion?

P/s : maybe you dont like to be called racist, so you change the word arabs with islam.. then islam is religion right? what a peace of liar!

I AM SORRY, I dont have any intention to hurt other people with Christian as their religion... but i have to make this comparison since these bigots seem to very hard to see how fake and invalid claims they make toward Islam.
21:50 May 10, 2011 by jbat

I dont have any intention to hurt other people with Christian as their religion... I know not all christian people bad as these muslim haters...only fews that maybe have personal problem and want to release their tensions...

and for this, I apologize for my statement!
21:53 May 10, 2011 by Swedesmith
Jbatty Not all Christians are good and not all Muslims are bad. I've never said otherwise.

What I am saying is Islam is not a tolerant religion. It does not allow for different religions or views.

You and I will never agree on this, but that is ok. I will tolerate your religion as long as you don't try to force it on me.

Peace out, brother.
21:55 May 10, 2011 by jamesblish
Nemesis: A typical church has horrible acoustics for rock shows or that type of thing. Way too much reverberation.
22:02 May 10, 2011 by Infart
@ Jbat-

1. When you refer to the crusades you are referring to something which is many centuries in the past. The West has evolved several times since then. Why not talk about the present? Or are you saying that Islam is currently in the middle of their own "crusade?"

2. George Bush (whom I didn't vote for and despised as President) never yelled out, "God is great!" while he was ordering bombing missions. Those wars were not religiously-based. However, they were in response to a religiously-inspired attack from Muslims. See the difference?

3. I think the fact that SD has doubled their support in every election since they became a party is evidence enough of how Swedes feel about Muslims.

22:30 May 10, 2011 by Infart
And, Iraniboy, if you cannot handle opinions that may contrast with your own....opinions based on FACT....then there are also flights from Arlanda to Tehran as well.
23:33 May 10, 2011 by swedejane
Anyone arguing that one or the other between Islam and Christianity is better than the other needs to have their head examined. They're both intolerant superstitious death cults and the world be a much saner and peaceful place without either.
01:06 May 11, 2011 by Rizwan Rahim
one thing is sure that, the prayers in mosques will be held 5 times daily, than a weekly prayers at a church or perhaps once a month during winter....

Guys Islam & Christianity have many similarities compared to other religions,do not judge by persons or acts, just try to understand the scripture well and follow according to it & see the difference.
01:30 May 11, 2011 by Vstrommer71
Nice conversation though...

My opinion?Religions usualy aren't vicious or by themselves. They do so when it comes to priests.I can no longer tolerate the fundamentalists Muslim Mulas or the comic fictions of Christian preachers screaming in my ear

Religion, yes, may be a significant issue for some groups of people but it should never exceed some limits

That's the key role of a lawful goverment. To keep the balance

@Swedesmith 110% agree with you :-)

My concern: How did Al Qadea start and how will this donation be controlled to know they won't be used beyond buying the said property and where will the source of the funds come from? like I said, my concerns anyways.....

Within 10-15 years there will be a Muslim member of the Swedish Government. Within 10 years of that most likely a Muslim Prime Minister.....Sweden will become the first European Government to do so. Whilst Swedes will view it as" leading the way". "setting as example", Showing the world etc, it will do nothing of the sort. By contrast it will lead to the gradual shutdown of Swedish freedom of speech. Religion will demand more rights and privileges than it already has. And the door will be wide open for an even larger influx of the Muslim population into Sweden. If anybody knows anything about geopolitics , this is a likely scenario..........
16:12 May 11, 2011 by Syftfel
@truthworthy#5: Well, your attempts at trivializing the issue is so blatantly arrogant that it's almost amusing, were it not so outrageously offensive to Swedes. This is a lot more than a real estate transaction, where someone is just "engaged in business" as you say. The comments in this and other forums signal a Swedish outrage over a poisonous, unacceptable life form, islam, which is trying to insert its vile venom into the Nordic realm. Swedish mainstream media has thus neatly surrendered into the liberal/socialist fold, that you can no longer believe what you read there. aftonbladet(lower case "a"), is a bastion of suppression of opionion and robotically preaches your prophet's meaningless dogma. It is my opinion that this must be faught and resisted unless we accept a poisonous and distorted debate. But you appear to have a history of attempting to silence those who do not agree with you. We're a nation which believes in freedom of expression, even that which is offensive to some - you -, not oppression of freedom of expression of the kind that islam often preaches. Like a truffel sniffing pig do you sniff out that which you feel is not "halal" according to your sqewed set of values, but your own pearls of wisdom only fall flat on Sweden, as she realizes that islam preaches selective racism, nothing else. Alarm bells should be going off within every decent Swede, Finn, Norwegian, Dane and Icelander. We're not interested in your taqiyya, hizb-al-ithwan al musmin, or muslim triumphalism. allah's avengers should seek their triumphalism elsewhere, not in Scandinavia.

I am Coptic, i.e. an Egyptian Christian, living in Sweden as a refugee, from Islamic persecution, few of my relatives have been killed in front of me, me myself was almost killed, half of my family are scattered all over the world, burning our churches is a monthly procedure, kidnaping our girls is part of their Jihad…. Do you want more?

I support the decision to let the church to be a mosque.

Why do I support is because of the suffering of what we have seen as Christians of the M.E., I don't want to see Muslims discriminated, we suffered from it and I know the pain very well.

I salute the brave people, who took this decision and showed love to Muslims, that's what we should do, we don't face evil with evil, if Muslim countries do wrong by not allowing us to build churches we shouldn't do the same wrong.

Al Kindy

Kinda ironic how you seem to support the very thing that persecuted you..... If you were really anti Jihad, you would speak against the Muslim church takeover. If you don't want Muslims to be discriminated against, then tell them to stop being Muslim and be more Swedish.

"When in Rome"
01:14 May 12, 2011 by Al Kindy
The equation is simple, the way you want people to treat you, treat them the same.

Or, if they treat you bad, treat them bad too and become the same like them and fall in the evil loop.

which one would you chose?

Muslims are victims to an evil ideology, they are enchained, have you read the Allegory Of The Cave for Plato? it's something like that, and once you recognize this fact you will start changing your views towards them. I am not suffering from the Stockholm syndrome, I hated them more than you could imagine, until i realized this fact, we are victims to our believes. Peace
07:52 May 12, 2011 by Zhorka
It was not an act of "Christian Love" but a well-calculated business. Who else would buy a place for worship in Sweden except highly spiritual Swedish muslims? Since pentecostalists do not need the church anymore, it should have been given for free to the muslim community.
10:38 May 12, 2011 by flintis
I'm sure Al-Quaida or Gaddafi wil give them the funds.

#The Muslims that are in Sweden, have good reasons to be here# Yeah of course they have!! persecuted in their homelands by the Christians.
10:39 May 12, 2011 by technoviking
@ Al Kindy

One can argue that since most violent criminals, killers, etc. were victims of abuse as children we should sympathize with them.

One can understand the cause but still abhor the result.

But yes, the biggest victims of Islam are the 1.5 billion people who've been brainwashed to follow this nasty, sinister ideology.

Regardless, they still cannot be allowed to shape the world in their repressive, hateful image.
15:08 May 12, 2011 by Ali_khan

It should be not be given Church to make a Mosque. It will hurt the many true Christians. It is a long history that Muslims destroyed the homes of God to make Mosques. Even it is still going on Muslims country and majority of Muslims support this act and speak against this only here in Europe instead their own country. So there is two faces one to show the world as a moderate (Show respect to all religion) and other conservative (Intolerate towards all religion) by inside.

Christians allow the Muslims to have Mosque even in Rome and Saudi King took part in this opening ceremony many years ago but what Christians got in this response. Saudi allow Christians to make Churches in Saudi? No! Even around 1200 thousand Christians live in Saudi. Have you ever heard Muslims protest against Saudi Arabia? No, in fact the support this act.

Muslims are free to practice their faith in Sweden. Show respects don't make your Mosque on place of Church. Choose any other place.
15:10 May 12, 2011 by sarina40
True freedom of religion means the freedom to follow any path as long as it is a respected path with authentic scripture and authorized leaders. Not some invented dogma created and propagandized to aggrandize self made martyrs.

In some countries you are either Christian or Jew and nothing else is respected. That is not true freedom of religion.
16:44 May 12, 2011 by jamesblish
Yeah and christians seized property too, when it first was introduced in this country. They put up a cross on the door of various buildings and voila, churches.
18:12 May 12, 2011 by Icarusty
As always, the headline is grossly sensationalist - the Christian group are SELLING a property that was used as a church. Another group are BUYING the property, and will thus use it as a mosque. There is no "taking over" involved, I was expecting some sort of protest group sitting in a church or similar... it is a business transaction.

Unless every time someone buys something is "taking it over" from someone else, I suggest the author changes the headline... unless of course his intention is to stir up trouble.
19:26 May 12, 2011 by devrsim
there is nothing wrong with encouraging anyone to show reverence an any way, it is the consciousness of the servitor not the detail of the service that is appreciated.
11:15 May 13, 2011 by rufus.t.firefly
A less misleading headline, like "Muslim Group Buys Church" would have been more sensible. "Takes Over" could easily give the wrong impression.
