The boy was allegedly raped by two other teenage boys, according to the Sundsvall Tidning newspaper, while another two teenagers and the 76-year-old home owner are suspected of being accessories to the rape.
“He was the only adult there, he looked on, and he allowed it to happen,” said prosecutor Jens Göransson to the paper.
Police learned of the rape while carrying out the investigation of another alleged rape involving a young girl.
When police confronted the 14-year-old boy, he confirmed the incident, despite having not reported it himself.
“He’s tried to put it behind him, but it’s clear that he’s affected by the events,” Göransson told the paper.
It is alleged that a 17- and 13-year-old held the victim down and forced him into sexual activity. This occurred during the Easter holidays in the elderly man’s residence in Sundsvall, northern Sweden, where young people are known to gather, according to the paper.
Prosecutors are labelling the incident as aggravated child rape.
A 15-year-old boy is also suspected as an accomplice, as he is believed to have been at the scene of the crime and supported the rapists, however he is not suspected of having actively participated in the rape of the teen boy.
The 76-year-old has refused to comment on the allegations, however, prosecutors view him as an accomplice.
“He provided the scene of the crime. He is an adult, the others are children, yet he did not prevent the incident from happening. Therefore, he is suspected of abetting the aggravated child rape,” said Göransson to the paper.
Prosecutors have filed remand order requests for the 17-year-old boy and the 76-year-old man, according to Sveriges Radio (SR).
According to the remand request, the man is suspected of aggravated child rape as well as three cases of sexual assault which are believed to have taken place between 2009 and 2012.
The alleged rape of the 14-year-old boy was also filmed, according to SR.
