With play in Sweden's top football league set to kick off at the weekend, contributor Nic Townsend offers the lowdown on each team and their chances of taking home the 2013 Allsvenskan title.

In brief: After being formed by Södertälje's large Assyrian community in the 1970s, Syrianska have rapidly risen up the football pyramid, achieving promotion to the Allsvenskan in 2010. Like fellow Södertälje club Assyriska, they can boast a strong following amongst the world's Assyrian diaspora, in both Sweden and abroad.

Expectations in 2013: In both their two seasons in the top flight, they've only narrowly avoided relegation. This season is likely to be another scrap, but if they can pull it off again, they'll be happy.

Players to watch: With no notable new additions, the club will rely on Sharbel Touma, Louay Chanko and Dinko Felić.
