Princess Madeleine and her husband Chris O’Neill have been unable to enjoy the private holiday they’d hoped for following their glamorous wedding on Saturday, after paparazzi managed to snap the pair on their private island.

The tabloid Expressen published the pictures, which showed Madeleine in a bikini and O’Neill in just shorts, with the headline “Honeymoon in Paradise”.

Expressen went into detail explaining the activities of the pair on the beach, and wrote “Here in the Seychelles, they can finally enjoy each other’s company on their honeymoon”.

The newspaper made little mention of the third-wheel they had placed in the couple’s vicinity in the shape of a telephoto sharp shooter.

The princess was unimpressed to learn of the pictures, taking to her official Facebook account on Friday to address the issue.

“We continue to thank everyone for their loving warmth and well wishes regarding our marriage,” she began.

“Sadly, the Swedish tabloid press have taken it upon themselves to destroy our privacy and place private photographs of us in their publications today,” she continued.

“The one thing we wish is that, if only for these few days, our privacy can now be respected.”

The message, which came together with a picture of the couple in a sepia-toned and fully-clothed embrace, had been shared over 250 times and liked over 7,500 times within an hour of being published.

Below the picture, hundreds of the princess’s 53,000 Facebook fans took the chance to share their feelings of disgust with the publication.
