Spillage leaves Swedish motorway soaked in beer

Motorists taking the E18 between Arboga and Örebro got a free drink on Tuesday morning after a truck scattered thousands of beer cans, leaving the motorway soaked in alcohol.

The vehicle drove into a railing and its cargo, containing vast quantities of beer cans, was scattered across the road bemusing drivers on their morning commute. Witnesses reported that the alcohol trail was over 100 meters long, stretching down the motorway.

The driver of the truck that caused the spillage escaped unharmed and a clean-up operation was quickly put into place. It is understood that the goods are currently being inspected to see it they can salvaged or if everything needs to be destroyed.

"They're pretty thorough when it comes to alcoholic beverages. Every barcode is supposed to be scanned due to alcohol taxes and other reasons but it looks dark. A lot is crumpled and can be overlooked," said Ola Magnusson, the emergency services commander who was present on the scene.
