Since news of the sex party broke last month there has been a flurry of demands for tickets for the event in Norrköpping, eastern Sweden. Organizers have had to disappoint latecomers as there is only room for 300 people in the Arbis Theatre where the frolics will unfold.
“The licensing authority only allows 300 people in the room,” said the Adam and Eva club manager to Folkbladet.
As interest was so high the Adam and Eva club, which claims to have 2,500 members nationally, had to turn away half of the original 600 swingers who wanted to attend. Those who are attending have shelled out 650 kronor ($103) each for the privilege.
Nevertheless, the party will go ahead despite opposition from some local residents who said it wasn’t “appropriate” for the locality.
Safe sex is encouraged according to the organizers which will have an Eyes Wide Shut theme in homage to the orgy scene in the 1999 Stanley Kubrick film starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
“I have bought 1000 condoms. Even though we don’t insist that you use a condom it is a strong recommendation,” said the manager of Adam and Eva club who has chosen to remain anonymous.
He added to the Norrköpping Tidning; “I have been the victim of a threat. I got a letter in the mail where they threatened to reveal my name to the public. It has been reported to the police.”
The club have hired security guards in case protests get out of hand and have said they will call the police if things get particularly ugly.
According to the club manager the event will boost the local economy to the tune of 150 hotel room bookings. The event coincides with the party conference for the Moderate party (Moderaterna) which is also being held in Norrköpping this weekend.
