Car thief takes Swedish toddler on joy ride
A young man who stole a car in Tranås on Sunday managed to speed off with a four-year-old inside, but the joy ride was brief.
The local Tranås Tidning reported that the man stole a car outside a food store and drove off with the child still inside. Witnesses told the paper that there were at first two children in the vehicle, which was parked outside the local Hemköp supermarket, but that one of the children managed to get out of the vehicle before it was driven off.
The younger child was trapped inside, however, as the thief took off, but after about 100 metres the driver stopped and let the child out of the car.
The thief then went on a two-hour joy ride around the small community in southern Sweden, with local police trying to locate him. The suspect eventually ended up in a ditch, where the police could arrest him.
