Swedish football phenomenon Zlatan Ibrahimovic will see a new set of stamps launched in his honour on Thursday, with the French more eager than any to get a taste of the star striker.

A set of five stamps of Zlatan will be released on Thursday for Swedish letter-writers and football memorabilia collectors.

But nowhere has the interest been so big as in France, where the Swede is currently playing for Parisian side PSG.

Swedish post (Posten) said in a statement that employees have been snowed under with calls and pre-orders.

"The French are especially interested, that's where Zlatan is the biggest right now. One customer ordered 1,500 packets for their French friends," said the head of stamps at Posten, Britt-Inger Hahne.

"And those French people can't even use them."

Zlatan himself was pleased to be the face of the new stamp range.

"It's a great honour to be on a postage stamp and I'm very happy and proud to have been chosen," he said on his personal app Zlatan Unplugged at the time of the launch.
