Two to hospital after Stockholm fire
08:46 CEST+02:00
Two people were taken to hospital in the early hours of Thursday morning after a fire began in their central Stockholm apartment.
The fire began at around 2am on Thursday in a flat on Krukmakargatan, on the island of Södermalm, and when emergency services arrived they found flames billowing from the seventh floor of the residential building.

Nine people were cleared out of the flat block, with a further two rushed to hospital suffering suspected smoke inhalation.

Fearing a risk of the flames heading to the attic, firefighters from five separate stations were on hand to tackle the flames.

By 3.30am, the fire department had the blaze under control.
