The weekend got off to an energetic start as NFGL students from across southern Sweden gathered at Skogshem & Wijk conference center on Lidingö, a gorgeous island in Stockholm.
SI's general director Annika Rembe welcomed the students and encouraged networking and empowerment, pointing out the global aspect of the programme
"We see our scholarships as a way to empower individuals to be change-makers," Rembe said. "It's not about Sweden. It's about a larger perspective."
The take-away message from Rembe's speech was clear: "Be inspired by each other."
After a humorous introduction to Swedish values by Australian John Alexander, the group broke up into networking sessions and Swedish classes, followed by dinner, drinks, and mingling.
The second group of NFGL students will be meeting for their kickoff event on October 10th – and the SI News Service will be there as well to meet and greet, and hear your ideas and suggestions.
