The Local's music guru, Paul Connolly, chooses six songs to take you through the first bright days of spring as part of our monthly series of top Swedish tracks.

1. Pale Honey – Youth

Guitar music has for so long been in a rut, that hearing something as fresh, vital and viscerally exciting as this is a real joy. Brilliant.

2. Gone In The Sun – Beaches

Now that Coldplay have gone all Avicii on us, where do we turn for stirring, melodramatic rock? Beaches is Gone In The Sun's first single and it is more Coldplay than a macrobiotic tofu salad.

3. Hurricane Love – Free Ticket

Hurricane Love do nothing new with the indie-pop format but they have hooks and tunes in abundance.

4. Seinabo Sey – Poetic

Not perhaps Sey's most accessible release but it still features THAT voice.

5. Gina Dirawi – Mad Woman

Dirawi's second single is a powerful, brooding slab of melodic R&B – and it is rather good.

6. Måns Zelmerlöw – Heroes

We know this is Avicii-influenced hayseed-dance-pop but it's the hottest favourite to win Eurovision for Sweden since Abba.
