A man has been arrested in Kil in western Sweden, for allegedly killing a bull by shooting it in the head, police have said.

The bull's owner reported the incident after he heard a shot late last night and, upon investigation, found his bull dead in his field, according to Sweden's Expressen newspaper.

Tracker dogs led police to a neighbouring property whereupon a man ran from the house and tried to evade officers.

The suspect ran into the woods, followed by policemen and police dogs. He was arrested shortly afterwards.

No weapon has yet been found.

A police spokesman refused to speculate as to whether the shooting was the result of a neighbours' feud.

The ‘fairytale' boarding school nestled in a Swedish village

The words ‘boarding' and ‘school' often summon images of strict teachers, drab dormitories and downcast children. That image couldn't be further from reality at Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket (SSHL), where boarders describe the ‘fairytale' school as a home away from home.
