Garbo, the star of movies such as Anna Christie, Camille and Ninotchka, lived in her East Side apartment from 1954 until her death in 1990. She moved in in the 1950s, when she was in her late forties and had retired from the big screen.

"She was drawn to this sprawling three bedroom, three bath aerie directly above the East River partly because the passing boats reminded her of her beloved, native Stockholm," reads real estate agents Halstead Property's description.

The apartment, located on Manhattan's East 52nd Street, is on the market for $5.95 million and most of the interior has been preserved as it was when Garbo lived there. Click the link below to see it for yourself.
