The Swedish winter is now in full force, and while the climate isn't always the easiest, this time of the year does make the country look particularly beautiful. With that in mind, The Local rounds up some of the best winter snaps from our Instagram followers.

This shot perfectly captures the crisp, clear days that are the best side of winter in Sweden.

Who doesn’t love the Northern Lights? Seeing them as far south as Stockholm is a real treat.

This Skåne picture shows a much warmer looking scene than the snow-covered north of Sweden.

The Local’s own Catherine Edwards took this shot in Gävle, famous for its (sometimes burning) Christmas goat.

This shot from photographer Monica Hjelt in Umeå captured a beautiful light halo appearing around the moon.

And incredibly, this was the scene in Umeå as long ago as October.
