Eurovision fans, you'll now be able to watch Melodifestivalen in English
The competition that selects Sweden's Eurovision Song Contest contender – Melodifestivalen – will get English commentary this year, to the expected excitement of non-Swedish speaking fans around the globe.
"Words cannot describe just how excited we are to be bringing Melodifestivalen to the many non-Swedish speaking fans out there," said journalists Bella Qvist and Olivia Le Poidevin, who will be in charge of the English commentary, in a statement on Twitter.
"It will be an absolute dream come true to welcome and guide our big international Eurovision family to Melodifestivalen, this beacon of love and light in the darkest of times. This is exactly what we all need after the year that we have had."

Melodifestivalen is easily the largest event of the year in the Nordic country (and together with Donald Duck on Christmas Eve the most watched TV show every year), and one of the most popular national Eurovision selection events in the world. With acts such as Abba, Carola, and most recently Måns Zelmerlöw, Sweden has won the competition six times, bested only by Ireland with its record seven wins.
"No country has a selection for Eurovision more anticipated internationally than Melodifestivalen. Week on week thousands of Eurovision fans across the globe tune in, and hundreds who would under normal circumstances be travelling to watch the show live at Friends Arena," ESC Insight's Melodifestivalen expert Ben Robertson told The Local (read his predictions for who's likely to win this year's Melodifestivalen HERE).
"So many Eurovision songs are produced by Swedish teams, be it in their composition or their visual element. SVT providing this commentary in part entertains a significant fan community, and thus niche tourism, but also is a small step to providing a better platform for Melodifestivalen's high production value globally," he added.
