From climate to culture: Stockholm University's fresh approach to problem-solving
The world is changing fast, creating new challenges in terms of how to understand events and solve problems. At Stockholm University in Sweden’s capital city, an exciting interdisciplinary approach is bringing together students and professors from many different disciplines to tackle big questions.
In the video below, two international students tell us how this way of learning has made their studies especially insightful and rewarding.
Liam Carpenter-Urquhart, from the US, recently graduated from the Master’s programme in Social-Ecological Resilience for Sustainable Development, while Bonnie McLean, from Australia, completed the Master’s courses in cultural evolution that will be given 100 percent online for the first time starting in 2024.
Along with their teachers, they explain why tackling climate change demands a broad range of expertise, and why digital memes have more in common with stone tools than you might think.
