Hashish in Stockholm

Hey all,

Having just recently moved to Sweden, and after about three months of not smoking any weed due to not having any connections here (been smoking daily for about 12 years), I finally broke down and went the plattan route, Took me all of two minutes to score 5 grams of hash biggrin.gif

Anyway, for a country with such severe drug laws and so few people who toke (Ive asked everyone Ive met locally), that was literally the easiest score I have had without having a source outside of Holland, British Columbia or Humbolt county. The cops saw what was going on but being Swedish, I suppose, they couldnt get off their asses and walk 10 meters to arrest 12 guys holding. Most of the time there is an 'agreement' with the cops but I doubt the Swedish fuzz would allow anyone to sell dodsknark so openly. Think of the children, after all... .

Discuss.

Sssshhh. Don't mention pot here! Even now the Swedish secret police are preparing to take you ( and me now I have replied) into custody and brainwash you into thinking something that is practically harmless and certainly eye opening is EVIL. "Burn the pot smoker" they shall cry as they parade you through the streets to the jeers and tomato throwing of the average indoctrinated Swede.

I'd be too stoned to worry...as long as they passed a McDonald's at some point during the parade...

Actually what I find hard to accept in Sweden is the peoples ingrained distrust of hash, weed etc. When I first witnessed my Swedish Girlfriends anti drug stance I was frankly stunned. When her friends all had the same reaction to my little habit of smoking whilst playing poker, you could have knocked me over with a feather, literally. It never computes with me when I see a young person getting annoyed by the presence of hash. I am not talking about peer pressure to smoke it, (everyone to their own) but Sweden's vilification of the drug and the acceptance of people to treat hash like heroine and smokers like junkies makes me really annoyed.

It is not natural for this kind of old mans conservative view to be accepted by what feels like the majority of the youth in Sweden.

there is something "children of the corn" about it.

Don't bother being provocative Mike. I grew up in Australia in a pot smokers' paradise, where the stuff grew wild. I remember when I was a teenager I met one chap at the local supermarket where I had a part-time job. He was in his early thirties and I had packed his groceries for him, predominantly chocolate flavoured milk as I recall. He proceeded to tell me (without invitation and for no apparent reason) that pot was a mind-opening drug while alcohol was a mind-narrowing one, and that was why the government wanted us to drink alcohol but not smoke weed. While he was telling me this, he wet himself. I had the honour of mopping up after the open-minded oracle. I haven't bothered arguing with them since.
