Hello Locals,

Long story short, I took a job offer from a Stockholm based company, starting in February. Do you know if it's feasible to apply for a personal number before the actual start date of the job? And if so what documents would I need to get from the employer?

I was thinking whether we could get the personal number process started for me and my family by coming on a short trip in January. This would be to get a head start on the personal number so as to be able to open a bank account quickly, save some time before our kid can go to kindergarten and so on.

Assuming you are not EU citizens, the tax office will ask for documents that show that you are residing in Sweden with residence permits, that your permits are valid and are valid for at least 12 months and that you have a home address.

Show your EU passport / national ID card and employment cerificate to the tax office. Husbands/wife/children should have a marriage cerificate/birth cerificate. Also a Swedish home address.
