Actually there are many lawyers that can handle immigration cases, and even specialist firms that only deal with asylum. But. none of those are useful when making the application for a permit, since in the application You are giving Your details and additional information, there is no legal advice actually needed. The time the lawyers become useful is when you have been rejected and decide to appeal etc...because then you have a decision based upon law to challenge!

NYCinGBG. After having terrible hassle from Skatt/Migration people we eventually hired a lawyer in Gothenburg, called Michael Gibbons, within days everything was resolved. In fact we were virtually chastised by the authorities afterwards for taking such a drastic ùnnecessary` step...yeah right, they had found people willing to challenge them, and they didn´t like the intrusion into their fika wonderland.
We very fortunate that we could afford a lawyer and truly sympathise with folks who don´t have the means to challenge the bureaucratic nightmare. Good luck in getting this sorted out.

Would you care to elaborate what the problem was? I think it may be useful for other visitors to this site as well...

If not, thanks in any case for providing reference for Mr Gibbons. His contact details are here:

PDX .My wife and I had come here together, from the UK, but once I realised that there were no jobs available, I left the country to work, and though we owned our own house outright she got a load of hassle because she had no visible means of supporting herself. I had to get documentary evidence from my employer that I was working out of the country and was capable of supporting her. We just got tired of the constant negative responses, so we hired the lawyer. It cost a bit but we have never had any hassle since. But, like I said I am grateful that we could afford it, I fear there are some folks who don´t have the means and have to endure being treated like dirt.

Basically You did not present the information in the correct way to start with. The hassle was well founded I suspect, it is clear that you must have sufficient means, or an income source to maintain the Right of Residence. The lawyer probably didn't do very much wink.gif ...You don't get hassle since, because you have proven the person of own means case. Nothing to do with the lawyer!
